Mobile phone services meet customers’ needs

Expense Reduction Analysts improves Attendo Finland’s cost-effectiveness by developing their operating models.

Healthcare services company Attendo wanted to develop and enhance their mobile phone subscription and switchboard service operating models. After discussions, Attendo was convinced that Expense Reduction Analysts best understood its needs in developing the mobile phone services. Through cooperation and successful competitive tendering, integrated operating models meeting Attendo’s needs were created and cost-effectiveness improved.

Many everyday routines of the 6,000 Finnish employees of Attendo, the Nordic countries’ largest healthcare services company, are handled by telephone or otherwise using mobile devices. Attendo’s doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals around Finland need diverse and continually evolving services for their mobile phone subscriptions and the supporting switchboard service.

Efficient mobile phone services are critical for Attendo’s operations. The company’s constantly growing and nationally expanding business had led to a situation in which different kinds of services acquired from a number of different service providers were being used. Attendo decided to develop its operating models so that it could offer in a cost-effective way the specific services appropriate for demanding professional needs. Expense Reduction Analysts’ experts Heikki Valtonen and Aku Kinnunen placed their expertise and experience at Attendo’s disposal.

“Our primary goal in working with Expense Reduction Analysts was to standardise and clarify our operating models,” explains Attendo’s Head of IT, Päivi Luotola.

“We began by gathering information about the mobile phone subscriptions and switchboard service. Then we analysed the current situation and presented Attendo with a service cost structure. Finally we collaborated in mapping out Attendo’s future needs,” adds Expense Reduction Analysts’ Aku Kinnunen.

Well-planned invitation to tender and competitive tendering ensured successful outcome

After the initial analysis, Expense Reduction Analysts’ experts also prepared, based on Attendo’s needs, an invitation to tender for competitive tendering.

“In cost management, planning of competitive tendering plays a key role. When we know the customer’s precise needs, we can seek the right solutions from the service provider. In this way, quality requirements are met and targets for cost savings are achieved,” says Heikki Valtonen.

“Only through the commitment and close cooperation of all parties – Attendo, the supplier and Expense Reduction Analysts – was a successful outcome achieved in introducing the services,” says Kinnunen.

After a successful competitive tendering process, the mobile phone subscriptions and switchboard service now correspond better to the needs of Attendo’s organisation, and administrative work has been reduced. In addition, the cost savings were achieved by service agreements constructed for Attendo’s needs in which only the services required are paid for.

“Expense Reduction Analysts’ expertise in competitive tendering was of prime importance to us. Implementing a competitive tendering process requires time and effort, so additional resources from outside the company helped us a lot. Now our mobile phone subscriptions really meet our current needs, and routine contract management work has been significantly reduced,” says Luotola.
